ORIGINAL METAL COIN BOX WITH LID FOR RHODES MARK TIME PARKING METER

Description

This auction is for (1) metal coin box with a lid for use in older Rhodes or Mark Time parking meters. Used but very good condition. It measures 3 3/4" across, 2 3/8" deep, and 2 1/8" high. It has a small handle on the front of the box to easily pull the box out of the meter. These coin boxes were used to help make the job easier for the person collecting the coins. They just had to open the meter, pull out the old box, and put a new one in. The lids helped keep the collector honest. The coin boxes would be brought back to the parking meter division office where they would be counted. After they were emptied the lid would be put back on and then some sort of tamper proof pin was put through the small hole on top right of the lid. Thank you for viewing my auction.
